Free Fun Adventures for All!
February is the perfect month to get out and about in Cornwall. It’s a lot quieter but still as stunning.
And the great thing is, you don’t need to break the bank to make some wonderful memories.
Whether you’re with family, friends, or just exploring solo, here are five fun and free ways to make the most of your time.
1. Take a Coastal Walk
Wrap up warm and head out to explore Cornwall’s spectacular coastline!
The South West Coast Path offers miles of stunning views. Try out Tintagel, St Ives, or Lizard Point for some of the best.
Bring a flask of hot chocolate, snap a few photos, and let the fresh sea air blow away the cobwebs.
2. Visit a Beach
Cornwall’s beaches are beautiful all year round.
Hunt for seashells at Perranporth or build sandcastles at Fistral Beach. If you’re feeling really brave, why not take a paddle!
Keep your eyes peeled for seals and seabirds. 👀
3. Explore Cornish Heritage & Mining History
Step back in time and discover Cornwall’s fascinating past.
Visit one of the 20 sites cared for by the Cornwall Heritage Trust.
They range from ancient hill forts, stone circles, burial chambers to a dovecote.
If mining sparks your interest, take a wander around Geevor Tin Mine (the grounds are free).
Or what about a visit to the old engine houses at Wheal Coates, St Agnes. The UNESCO-listed mining landscape is great for a family stroll – see if you can spot any old machinery!
4. Adventure in the Woods
Cardinham Woods and Tehidy Country Park are both perfect for a woodland wander, away from it all.
Cardinham has many trails to enjoy whether walking or cycling. There’s even a brand new ‘Room on the Broom’ trail (small charge of £4 for the pack from the Ranger’s Hut)
Tehidy Country Park has 250 acres of peaceful woods and lakes to explore. The wildlife is great (especially the friendly squirrels!)
How about a picnic for a cosy lunch outdoors or treat yourself to delicious goodies from the onsite cafes.
Look out for snowdrops and listen for birds singing – spring is just around the corner!
5. Cornwall Gold
Located near Portreath, Cornwall Gold offers free entry. It’s a great day out that mixes Cornish history with hands-on fun for all.
You can explore the Tolgus Mill exhibition or try your hand at panning for gold.
Maybe dress up as a Bal Maiden or Cornish tin miner.
And for this half term the children can pick up a free kids’ spotter bingo sheet to add to the fun.
So what are you waiting for?
No matter what you fancy, Cornwall has something special to offer.
And if you’re staying at Degembris, well that’s just the icing on the cake! 😉
Grab your coat, gather your loved ones, and enjoy these free adventures – your February is sure to be filled with fun!
